If the Earth Was Flat

If the earth was flat,
and you could dig to the depths,
what do you suppose,
would we find,
if there were no missteps?

Would we fall forever below,
into a black void,
like a character in a game,
who stepped through the wall,
they were meant to avoid?

Or do you suppose we’d burn up,
flattened from the pressure and stone,
knowing beyond a doubt,
that in our pride,
we should have left well enough, alone?
