In 24 hours I’ve been reminded
how much energy it takes to have joy,
and how much little boys love trucks,
and so do little girls, thank you,
and I’ve found out how thrilling
it is to run around the couch…

A loud noise happens. I wince.
I say, “That wasn’t obnoxious at all…
“Hey dude.”
“Yeah dude?”
“You know how skeletons freak people out because they’re what’s on the inside and that’s where they should stay?”
I think the reason,
we’re always so shocked by love,
isn’t that it’s there…
bust out that fake feather boa
doll yourself up
in the most fluorescent colors you can find
until you glow in the dark
I’d rather like to make a habit,
of getting things done,
not because I want to show off…
