The baker cuts shape,
out of the flattened dough.

Each time the metal 
pierces into the surface,
the lonely pieces sprawl 
on the baking sheet, stretching 
their arms out but not touching, 
never touching.

The baker inserts the pan into oven 
and rerolls the dough.
