Stomped through the rain,
pouring so up and down,
didn’t want to lower the umbrella
and expose hair for that minute
it takes to release and fold up.
So pressed the button with umbrella
still over head, and stepped
into entryway, spinning to roll
and fold behind in the doorway.
But when the ribbing released,
the canopy dumped water
down the back of neck.
Cold water. Wet water.
Shoulder-hunching water.
Didn’t look around. Don’t spy
anyone watching, means no
one saw and it didn’t happen.
