If we had a boss,
responsible for just ourselves,
who we reported to,
and had to explain,
how we’d missed,
our goals for that day,
like waking up a few minutes closer,
to our alarm clock,
or to straighten up,
that little mess,
instead of putting it off,
I doubt they’d be as kind,
as we often are,
when we can keep it all,
inside our heads.
