Language is a fine-tuned instrument
playing improv. Once you know
the rules, you can break them.
For instance, operational
means something different
from operatic. One refers
to mechanics, to machinery
working, to companies running
themselves. Operatic
means something to relating to opera,
the fancy musical performance.
According to the dictionary
they are indeed related
because they derive from the Italian
for work — opus.
So who’s breaking
the rules?
